The second annual Youth Power 5K Challenge is a 5k (3.51 miles) race and walk to benefit Tri-County Youth Services Bureau.

Indian Head Rail Trail in White Plains, Maryland

Registration begins at 7:45 a.m.

Race and walk begin at 8:30 a.m.

 

About the course:

ASTF course certification # MD10010JS.
The course is a scenic, paved trail that was formerly a railroad track and has since been converted into a walking, running, and biking trail. It is approximately as wide as a single-lane road and is fairly flat throughout. The course is not open to vehicular traffic and does not cross any roads. Race participants must be at least 13 years old. Children may accompany parents on the race course if they are confined to a wagon or stroller.

Direction to the race course:

Use the following address if you wish to use a mapping service: 4300 Charles Crossing Dr., White Plains, MD 20695. The Rail Trail does not have an official address, but this is the closest location.

From Waldorf and points north: Take 301 south into White Plains at turn right onto Theodore Green Boulevard. The Charles County Health Department is on this road. Continue past the Health Department and you will see the trail head. Parking and restrooms are available to the right of the trail head. Overflow parking is available at the Health Department.

 

From points south: Take 301 north and turn left onto Theodore Green Boulevard and follow directions above.

 

From St. Mary's or Calvert counties: Get onto route 5 north (235 north turns into route 5 north) and turn left onto Billingsley Road and follow it to the intersection with 301. Turn left onto 301 south and turn right onto Theodore Green Boulevard and follow directions for Waldorf.
